Julie Barndoor was born out of coaching rugby league for 10 years. She is an amalgamation of all the male coaches I have encountered. Julie is my first foray into creating a comedy series and I collaborated with Luke Toulson on the writing. He directed and edited. I created the character initially for a BBC funny women comp and later we developed the idea into a series of seminals for youtube. I would love to create a sitcom of Julie as we follow her over a full coaching season.
I also think a comedy short of Julie would be a great start to writing a full sitcom and have begun developing this script.
I intend to extend her seminals into parenting and relationship seminals as who better to give out parenting advice than a coach who has never even had a relationship let alone children. Julie has a unique take on both dating and parenting and wants the world to follow her rules.
